The Chain

Listen to the wind blow
Down comes the night
Run in the shadows
Damn your love
Damn your lies

Break the silence
Damn the dark
Damn the light

- The Chain - Fleetwood Mac

Breaking out some more Fleetwood Mac for this blog post.

About a month ago I had the privilege of attending a photography workshop in Seattle hosted by Amanda Diaz through the creativeLIVE group. If you haven't heard of cL, in a nutshell, it's a community of creatives coming together and teaching one another, via the power of internet! Basically live TV, but on your computer. And it's freakin' rad. It's like art school, but you can do it at home, and it's way cheaper. (Why didn't I learn about this five years ago?!) I can't tell you how excited I was to attend - to meet and learn from one of my favorite photographers?! There aren't enough emojii's in existence to show how excited I was when I received the email. Throughout the experience, I met some wonderful photographers in my area (and not so much in my area). I came away feeling validated in my current processes of planning, shooting, and editing; as well as having a renewed sense of purpose and drive to get the ball rolling.

This set of photos happened the day after the workshop ended. I met with my gorgeous and talented friend Haley. It was a dreary Seattle day (go figure), and we didn't have too much time to work with (I was plagued with vertigo and had a very long drive ahead of me). I wanted to get some styling practice, so we raided her closet and my brain was swirling with ideas. I had something completely different picked out, but then I heard Stevie Nicks' voice coming out of her phone, and I immediately changed my mind. This is what happened. (And i'm sorry I've been sitting on these photos for this long, ugh!) And an interesting tidbit... Haley is having a baby and it's due on my birthday! Fingers crossed I'll have another birthday twin!

fun fact: shortly after capturing this I had another round of vertigo. watching her spin threw me out of whack. hooray for unexpected job hazards.
