Kristin Hayes Photography

I'm 30 years young, born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. I've noticed light all my life.

As a child, I would lay in my room and stare out of my window, taking note of each speck of twinkling dust, and admire the long beams of light through the trees. When I was 15, my mom bought a simple point-and-shoot camera for herself. More often than not, I would be sneaking it away... eventually she bought me my own, and I felt like I had found my "thing;" I began snapping pictures of our animals, flowers, landscapes, and all of my friends.

Over a decade later, and I've still got my camera in my hands. I've since upgraded a couple of times, and learned a few tricks... and I've really found my passion in photographing people.

Since becoming a mother, photography is now more important to me than ever. I love being able to preserve the moments between her and her father; Knowing that she will have these moments to look back on fills my heart with joy.

With the parental perspective now etched in my brain, I've found it has changed the way I work - the way I see things. The moments I look for.

Human connection is my inspiration.

It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.
