A couple weeks ago I met up with my friend Audra and her lovely family.
It was my first photoshoot after being on lockdown.
It goes without saying, but the pandemic (along with everything else happening) has made an impact on us all.
I often wonder how it is going to affect our children as they grow, cultivate friendships, and move through life.
The ray of hope I’ve seen, however, is that our kids are adaptable and resilient.
Now, our jobs as parents are to guide and support them through thick and thin - we are the navigators of ship, steering it through raging seas and blistering winds. We’re also the calm in the storm for our kids - the lighthouse at the edge of a cliff, signaling stable ground.
My big takeaway from this experience is that we try to remind our daughters and sons that we will always be there for them, no matter what the world throws at us.
All in all, it was so refreshing to see my friend and her girls. It was a real treat to sit and talk and laugh with them, and document this moment in their lives. As I edited their images, I couldn’t help but to be overwhelmed with emotions. I have so missed capturing the bonds people share, especially between a mother and child.
Even though the world is chaotic, It’s okay to stop and take in the beauty around us.
